The Philippine Carabao Center has delivered on Friday, April 23, 16 of the 50 hybrid carabaos that will be used for the first ever dairy processing plant in the City of Mati.

The 16 crossbreed water buffaloes were received by City of Mati Mayor Michelle Nakpil Rabat together with Kalaparan Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Cooperative (KARBENCO) association head, Rodora Datar.

The carabaos were readily turned over to the farmers of Kalaparan in Barangay Don Enrique Lopez. Personnel of  the PCC delivered the crossbreed buffaloes all the way from Kabacan, Cotabato.

The buffaloes are 50% native and 50% hybrid in order to produce quality milk that will be processed in the dairy processing facility located in Tagawisan, City of Mati and will be dubbed as Mati’s Premium Milk.

A total of 50 crossbreed buffaloes are expected to be given to the association as help for the farmers of Kalaparan.

A total of 10 million pesos is allocated for the whole livelihood project including the diary box which is the store where all of the dairy products will be sold and is located in Tagawisan.

The entire project is funded by Senator Cynthia Villar. (CIO MATI)
