The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), as part of its year-end activities, recognized the most functional Persons with Disability, Women, and Senior Citizen organizations in Davao City.
On November 23, 2023, the office feted Barangay 26-C Senior Citizen Association of City Poblacion B District as Champion for the Most Functional Senior Citizen Organized Group. The awarding was held at the World Palace Hotel in Juna Subdivision.
The first runner-up, the Barangay Bago Aplaya Gulf View Senior Citizen Association of Talomo B District, and the second runner-up, the Barangay Centro Senior Citizen (San Juan) Association of Agdao District, also received their awards.
The winners received trophies and cash prizes worth Php 30,000, Php 20,000, and Php 10,000, respectively.
On November 22, 2023, the office feted Barangay 29-C Women Association of Poblacion B District as the champion for the Most Functional Women Organized Group. The awarding was held at the Ritz Hotel in Bo. Obrero.
The first runner-up, the Dumanlas Women Association of Buhangin A District, and the second runner-up, the Dumoy Farmers Women Association of Talomo B District also received their awards.
The winners received trophies and cash prizes worth Php 30,000, Php 20,000, and Php 10,000, respectively.
On November 17, 2023, the office feted the Barangay 29-C PWD Association of Poblacion B District as the Most Functional PWD Organized Group at World Palace Hotel Juna Subdivision.
The first runner-up, the PWD Association of Barangay Lapu-Lapu of Agdao District, and the second runner-up, the PWD Malabog Chapter of Paquibato District, also received their awards.
The winners received trophies, and cash prizes worth Php 15,000, 12,000, and 10,000, respectively.
The CSWDO conducted the said awarding ceremonies to recognize the sector of women, senior citizens, and PWDs in organizing and giving valuable support to the communities, on top of their best practices as organizations.
The purpose of the awards is to institutionalize and capacitate the structure of the sectors to form concrete programs and services that answer their issues and concerns.
In a message to the City Information Office, Social Welfare Operation Division Acting Division Head- Epifania F. Sagayno, RSW said that the awarding for the most functional organizations in each sector started in the year 2022.
“We conducted the validation from September to October,” Sagayno said.
She added that in all, their office feted the functionality of four sectors: Women, PWD, Senior Citizens, and Youth, which was awarded last October 7, 2023. (CIO)
